2012 – The Year To Jhoom!
Just Jhoom! means Just Dance. inspired by the energetic dances of Bollywood films it draws on a range of styles from classical Indian to Bhangra with dashes of hip hop, jive and jazz, rounded off with some limb-lengthening yoga-inspired stretches. Just Jhoom! is unique in that every part of the body is exercised from the eyes to the tips of your toes. One of its unique selling points is the use of hand exercises in the dances to mobilise and flex those all-important, and somewhat neglected hand muscles. Just Jhoom! helps with motor skills, hand and eye co-ordination, flexibility, increases fitness levels and is a true mind and body workout. What’s really interesting is that Just Jhoom! is having benefits outside the fitness/dance studio too. Class participants are making new friends - socialising or going to watch Bollywood films together.
In July 2010 the Just Jhoom! Fitness Certification Course was admitted into the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) framework for 16 REPs CPD points. This is the first Bollywood Dance-Fitness Instructor’s course to be accredited by a nationally recognised professional body in the UK thus making it attractive to fitness professionals already teaching other forms of exercise class and guaranteeing its credibility and safety within the fitness market.
In October 2010, we ran the first Just Jhoom! Instructor course in Surrey and since then we have trained and mentored over 100 instructors. Instructors are now running classes all over the UK as well as in India, Sweden and the Czech Republic. The training will be going abroad this year and in February 2011, we choreographed and produced the first Just Jhoom! Dance-Fitness DVD. The DVD has been featured in over 15 publications and was singled out by BodyFit magazine as one of the best 3 fitness DVDs of the month.
2012 has started with a bang with Top Sante and Glamour Magazines stating that we are the dance-fitness programme to look out for! But, more importantly, our Instructors are telling us just how much they enjoyed the course.
To be a Just Jhoom! Instructor you first must have a dance or fitness qualification. Just Jhoom! takes the health and wellbeing of its general public very seriously. Instructor training starts with a Bronze level intensive two-day course. You’ll be amazed at how versatile the content of the course is! You can teach 3 different class formats using the same material – changing the style of class to suit the needs of your clients. Instructors have the creative freedom to incorporate their own choreographed routines amongst Just Jhoom! routines shared through the Just Jhoom! Instructor Association (JIA).
